Trustee inmates chat through the bars at Lake County Jail. A five-year statewide comparison of blacks and whites arrested solely on drug charges shows that black men served 50 percent longer terms than their white counterparts. Some blame the disparity on prejudice, but others blame the culture of the drug trade. (Andy Lavalley/Post-Tribune)

I hear a lot of people say it is racism. Do you think it might be other mitigating factors?

I think all cases are weighed on a case by case basis but if the judge & jury does not look like you chances are you going do to maximum time.

Drugs should be legal & taxed. The tax money should be used for treatment and education programs. A lot less people in jails, less street violence, trillions in tax revenue. A few more druggie's but the net effect would be positive.

If it were taxed this country would be in better shape a lot of people only do it because it is illegal.

Go figure.

I know a lot of them and if it was legal they would seek another thrill that is illegal or immoral.

Studies by the FDA show that One joint is equal to the effects of one beer on a normal basis. So I think that it should be ragulated the same. I think that if we can get this issue down to the states as a state issue then we can have a better chance at getting it legalized or not legalized.

I personaly would not mind if it was legal.
