They completed a few stores for rent at the old Woodmar site.They had a landscaper lay down sod and flowers and some small bushes, it looked great. They haven't watered the place and weeds have taken over.That was several weeks ago. Now they did come along and cut the weeds, but it still looks like a dump. What a waste of money....

O'h come on now.. Those 2 projects have been going on for years now and nothing has been actually been completed at either one. What I was pointing out was the fact they spent so much money on the landscaping and then let it got to waste. Just plain weeds and wilted flowers. They had some sort of deadline for Woodmar with that money loan. What happened there? Was that money used at the old K mart building instead of Woodmar?

Is it any surprise that the new Woodmar Mall finds itself in the state that it does? We are talking about Hammond, Indiana, after all.

By the way, is there a Starbuck's in Hammond's New Crown Jewel? A few months ago, Fowler, the Pustule of the Region, was crowing that Hammond and Woodmar would boast a new Starbuck's by summer. Boy, if one more Starbuck's doesn't bring in the big spending tourists from Ford Heights, East Chicago, Gary, and Markham, I don't know what will.

See, Tom's not too bright. Did this Developer receive nearly $1,000,000 in TIF Funds from the city to bail them out of a county tax sale? And didn't the State Board of Accounts ask McDermott in that audit, how that disbursement of TIF money meet TIFF Guidelines?

McDermott never answered the State Board of Accounts request.

But the ironic thing about this? Seems like the Developer out smarted Tommie. They got nearly $1,000,000 free and clear by building what seems to be maybe, at tops a $100,000 structure. Not bad, 10% cost on free money.

You have to admit that $1000,000 estimate for the Woodmar building is way short of what it did cost.. If you look closely, there are some good costly designs to the building. I have to admit, the entire design is strange. Glass on thr front and back of each store. I wonder who be the first
tennent? Goodwill Shop or Salvation Army?
