Here are the highlights of the meeting:

This was a 2 part meeting, the 1st part being a Public Hearing on the School City budget. This part of the meeting started at 6pm and ended at 6:15pm. the regular School Board meeting commenced at the end of the Public Hearing on the budget.

Allboard members were present.

Special Recognition:

Three outstanding Dance students from Morton High School were honored this evening. These 3 students have a chance to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade next year, 2013. They will begin to start fundraising efforts to cover the cost of the trip to New York.

Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers 1st session)L:

A parent from a Hammond grade school, complained about an intrusive questionaire that her child was required to fill out. The parent asked for the resignation of the Teacher who did the questionaire.
A Clark parent expressed her dismay as to the lack of response to Latino's parents requests for public information in the SCH. She also said that inaccuracies are in the files of Special Education students. She also was appallled that a board member did not excuse themselves from voting on the personnel report at the last meeting, because of an alleged conflict of interest of a relative listed on the personnel report.

My take;

A very quick double header meeting. Congratulations to the dancers from Morton ! It would be awesome to have some young people from Hammond in the Macy's parade next year !
I hope that the parents who spoke this evening get a resolvement of the issues they brought to light.

Really! A fifteen minute meeting on the SCH budget. Let me guess no one asked any questions. The SCH skates by on their budget and spending because most of the ill informed think that it is the civil cities duty. It is a shame that you can not govern ignorance. Most taxpayers pay more taxes due to school spending then they do actual property tax.

The truth. If you look at your property tax bill, there is a section called "voter approved projects". That is the tax bill for the schools. We will be paying these for decades.
