Three golfers asked me to make it a foursome. I suggested Hammond.s Lost Marsh. They all said no!!!! The last time they were there, they ordered 3 pitchers of beer. When they went to pay the bill. They charged them $54.00 for the beer.
If this is the way they operate the place, they will never have repeat customers.
I'm aware that the food and beverage is leased out, but some adjustment to the prices are in order.

I have had several very good meals there. It's very rarely crowded, the service is always good and the view at night is outstanding. If you are looking to cheap food and crowded noisy places, stick to Appleby's. Some of us want a first class dining experience and have the means to pay for it.

My daughters school had their Prom there. The food was nothing to brag about. After the Prom, many of the kids went to McDonalds.

I said nothing about the service or the food in my posting.. All I said was. 54 bucks for 3 pitchers of beer was way out of line. I think they said it was Miller Light. Speaking of Lost Marsh, I wonder if that former politician that paid the place with a bum check , ever made it good? It was for his daughters wedding reception.

In other words, pitchers of beer were $18. That's a few dollars more than the going price. Did it ever occur to you that the bar doesn't cater to people who swill pitchers of Miller Light? They were also upset that they couldn't smoke there, right?

I'm sure most of those kids consider BW3's fine dining. It's a good thing they like McDonalds because many of them will be behind the counter flipping burgers and running the fry machine.

Remember, this is coming from the guy who forgot about The first World Trade Center bombing, as well as the Iranian Hostage Crisis.

There is a reason that it isn't crowded. People looking for "first class dining experiences" with outstanding views don't do so in north Hammond. Only a north of 80/94 pauper would consider methane gas lighting as a great view. Eighteen dollars for a pitcher of beer in a town with a median income like Hammond's is ridiculous and the place will price itself out of existence shortly. And, if a guy like you has the means to pay for a fancy dinner, why are you screwing the taxpayers over for $30,000 to send your kid to college?

Remember, your daughter "graduated" from the same lousy school system and after her taxpayer-funded college career is as likely to land behind a fry machine as any other Hammond student.

I can go to Chicago and get better prices than that. 18 bucks a pitcher, WOW. Talking about other venues in the region, I hear they remodeled the Health Club at the Civic Center. If they ever check the grant agreement with WPA and the Goverment, that Center was for the benefit of the residents, it states free services like the pool. They charge local residents one price and then other outside folks suppose to pay more. I see a lot of Illinois cars there. Is that Kosher? I know of several out of towners (one lives in Munster) that brag about them paying the low rate as Hammond residents. I just wonder, how ,many folks get free services? It happened in the past. Then it had me wondering if they ever have those midnight parties of the past? That's when they would cover the windows and door with paper. Golly I wonder what went on behind that paper????

Lost Marsh? Don't they serve up a free lunch there? With the amount of tax money that subsidizes that place, they should be able to pay you to eat there. By the sparse customer counts the place has a reputation for, it looks like they would have to bribe people to dine there. The club cost north of 9 million tax dollars to build. It pays no property taxes. So each of those many---and bountiful no doubt--- meals sparks has inhaled there, have been subsidized by tax dollars just like his progeny's college tab. No wonder he is enamored with the joint. So why are duffers like flash asked to bend over and fork over 18 bucks for a pitcher of beer? Since the operator pays no mortgage and no property taxes, he has low costs to begin with. His price gouging will leave quite a divot in your wallet.

Kid, you've made at least half a dozen off-topic posts about some skinny dipping that you claim occurred at the civic center pool over 40 years ago. What's up with that? Weren't you invited?

For the one and only Sparks, I never said one word about skinny dipping. You must have been there in person. I guess you didn't swim. If you had, we would have had the biggest flood around the Civic Center. As for moving around with this thread, it followed other posters mentioning goverment spending.
