Well, Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr gave the Woodmar Mall Developer nearly $1,000,000 to develop TWO buildings. I believe the deal was half when the permits and foundation were poured, the other half when construction was completed.
This is what $1,000,000 buys Hammond residents. It sure does look like someone fell asleep at the wheel. This looks like a key ready development. I can see a line of business applications around city hall looking at opening up at this site. Just knocking on the developer's door.
Tom and a group of political hacks stood infront of Carson's and protested about some senseless issue (Carson's leaving?).
Well, apparently this is McDermott's plan at redevelopment of the Woodmar Site and keeping Carson.
I am sure both are exceptionally pleased at McDermott's gentrification plan for Woodmar. I can see other business are just beating a path to lease this new building. The tall mound of gravel is a new skate board park for the 3rd District.
If I remember correctly, the Woodmar property was going to be sold at tax sale. A local business family bid on the property and I believe were the successful bidders, yet the developer somehow came up with enough $$$ to stop the tax sale, shortly after Tiff moneys were released.
Where is the second building?
Why where tiff funds released without the developer meeting
all of their contractual obligations?
I wonder why this property has not been tagged?
Or maybe Hammond's homeless will move in the next few weeks.
