This area in the pictures are approximately Harrison & Conkey.

This appear to have gone the way of no city services. Maybe Tom is relying on College Bound as a way that families might move into this neighborhood.

Apparently it is not working. This excess neglect is simply allowed to continue by the McDermott administration. This neglect actually drives families away from a neighborhood. Others who live in the neighborhood hope the city would assure basic area maintenance is performed, like grass cutting, repair of fasade.

See, their is this principal regarding gentrification, improving a neighborhood, fix the broken window, paint the peeling & chip gutter. Cut the friggin grass... these things make change in a neighborhood. This appears to have been negelcted for most of the summer.

College Bound is making a difference. You can see it in these pictures!

But Parts of Calumet Avenue are showing promise! Is that because it's alleged this is where Tom and associates own property in a blind trust?

2 of these properties are on the demo list. I hope they get to them soon. Up until a couple of years ago, one of these buildings was a restaurant, and the other one was a small grocery store.

Now this is the view just north of the Charter School. The east end of this strip is on Hohman Ave. This east end is where Tom is going to make a parking lot and leave Hammond residents with this picture?

Tom, your going to make a parking lot out of a city park? Tom? Tom?

Why are these lots not maintained, at least for the sake of image, Aesthetics Tom?

Why are the weeds not cut Tom?

You sure that isn't Cedar St over by Speedway? Looks just like it. If so it was torn down years ago and the lot is in the tax sale.

A ticket? How many trees would have to die to cover all those tickets? How is the plan to use rental registration fees to pay for CE coming along?

A figging ticket, drive down Hoffman st. You have to be blind not to see it.

Tom needs to do his job for the citizens of hammond, all the citizens of Hammond not just putting $ in the pocket of a chosen few.

As to chuckie, you seem obsessed, whom ever he is he must be a real threat to Tom political future.

Karent what do you care, you profess to live in Valpo..... Karent, what are you doing to clean up Hammond, other than to move out of town to Valpo?

Karen, if you don't like the pictures, don't look, but someone is looking at this with 2094 views & 87 post.

& by the way, maybe, just maybe it might point out the discrepancy between services in Hammond.

From a friend who works in sanitation, apparently their was an order given out, go out and clean up the trash.

Apparently it takes an election for this to happen. A real shame.

Now this house was owned by an older couple, as neighbors told me. Too bad Tom didn't have his merry men of contractors do something for these folks before it was too late.

Now it looks unsafe!

There is a group called "Hammers For Hearts". They would fix up this place for the elderly couple for no charge, except the cost of materials. The Department Of Planning on Conkey has the info on this group. They need to call 853-6371.
