Becky Ward, a 20 year Hammond School Board Trustee, passed away last Thursday morning, April 12, 2012, after a long battle with cancer. Here are the arrangements:
A Celebration Of Becky's Life will be on Friday, May 4, 2012, at the Lighthouse Community Church, 17500 Lighthouse Lane, Lansing, Illinois. Visitation will be from 1-5pm, with a Service conducted at 5pm.
Becky is survived by her husband Barry, 2 sons, a stepson, 2 grandaughters, and 2 sisters. She is also survived by her close friend, Judy Wahl, and other friends very dear to her.
Becky was a Hammond School Board member for 20 years, past President of the Hammond City Wide Crime Watch, and past President of Catch '84. She was the former Director of the Hammond Operation Snowball, Snow Flurries, and Snow Flakes. She was the creator of the Snowball Rockers and the Hammond City Wide Talent Show.
I knew Becky for over 30 years. She gave her all for the City of Hammond, and for all the kids. Even though she has been battling cancer for a long time, she has made almost every single School Board Meeting for the past 20 years. She has not been able to attend a School Board meeting since February, due to her declining health. God rest her soul, and God Bless her family, and comfort them, in this sad time.
