Not sure where or what report the mayor of Chicago is talking about, but he is under the impression that Hammond gets 20 million a month from gambling. Or maybe he's just lying like the other mayor to the east. Whatever the true number, Hammond's gambling haydays are numbered. Combining the factors of property tax caps, property value assessments in the crapper, low collection rates for taxes, lower gambling revenues, and other "difficulties", someone might find the lucrativeness of wringing this city out, drying up. Which way then? Hopefully by then, "someone" wont have to worry about keeping food on the table or a roof over his head. That will be provided for him by the feds.
Hammond's gambling heyday's are numbered for a lot of other reasons than Chicago "maybe" getting a casino. Bigger worries is that almost every state around Indiana now has casino gambling in one form or another. Even bigger still is the debt of Caesars entertainment that has to be rolled over in the next few years starting in 2013. Bankruptcy is a real and valid concern.
Governor Quinn is still against the massive expansion of gambling that this bill calls for. He let it expire last time when everyone on this board cried that the sky was falling.

Newsflash was swearing that Chicago would have a casino up and running at McCormick Place in less than 6 months. Tommy was sure it was going to be Navy Pier.
Sparks told me that I was wrong in saying it wouldn't happen. Who was right after all?
