To have a major, well almost a major, well let's just say, most likely the only newspaper in the region to make such a bold statement, to print a clearly negative series of articles on Tom, well maybe, just maybe Tommie, aka, Jr. has lost his luster or threatened one too many persons.
Nagle's article in which he writes and I quote:
"And so Mayor Tom did what he does so well, his “concerns†helped stop the process." http://www.nwitimes.com/news/opinion/columnists/william-nangle/william-nangle-crash-course-in-nwi-politics-for-nirpc-applicant/article_47703542-16b1-5f43-9bf4-8f998b1c9999.html A written statement as such from Nagle is surprising. The only thing Nagle didn't call Tom is a bullie...maybe another article is pending on that subject.
A states men will negotiate, work to influence someone, Tom is no statesmen, he uses his power to threaten, yell and swear in staff meetings, or send a minion to do his dirty work, as in the dental hygienist who challenged Janiec's candidacy or some doofass in the Water Department to play games with political candidates.
Tommie has simply spent Hammond into such debt, that $14,000,000 had to be borrowed from Porter County. Now how does Mr. Finance justify this with $35,000,000 plus per year of gaming money infused into Hammond's budget? Credit line is that bad? Ed or Kevin would normally write a bond....Tommie has to find a way to leave town before the economic gravy train leaves its tracks. How far is Hammond from being as broke as Gary?
The you have a couple other political co hearts, Philpot and Salinas, who may be looking to let's make a deal. Seldom, if ever has the feds ever prosecuted a politician who has left office.
More important, in the overall view of things, the fact that NIRPC did not choose Tommie as their leader, despite his most recent statement he wanted to leave his political office, (along with his other attempts at leaving Hammond...his failed running for governor, failed run for US Senate, neither of which landed sufficient enough interest with other power brokers outside of little Tommie's other head) didn't get him the job. An ego blow to Jr.
Tom's interest in Pete's seat, well, unless Tom has video of Pete in bed with a goat, the Voters of Indiana will continue to endorse and vote for Pete. What does that leave for Tom?
Washington? Washington is out of the question! Tommie can't get thru the vetting as too many inside deals here in Hammond and I think Tommie would make Petraeus look like a choir boy, using too much of that other head of his.
I don't think even Scott King would take a look at Jr. and his old law partner seems to be doing much better with out Jr.
From what I hear, Tommie is looking for, needs an excuse to leave Hammond. Watch in the next several months a theme develop.
Bye Tom.
