Northwest Indiana Discussion

Here are the highlights of the meeting:

All board members were present.

Special Presentation/Recognition:

Lincoln Elementry students demonstrated the uses for the portable interactive whiteboards(Mobis).
The PTSA announced the winners of the Reflections competition.
Team Hammond Robotics won the Regional competition.

Unfinished Business:

Some discussion was made on the findings of the State Board Of Accounts audit of the SCH finances, that uncovered $320,000 missing from one of the accounts of the SCH. A $320,000 discrepency was found to be actually located in another account. Also, $2,100 missing from approximately 6 years ago cannot be found.

Calender:

All summer meetings will be held at 5:30pm instead of 6pm. The next regular board meeting will be Monday May 20, 2013 6pm at Hess Elementary School.

Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers 1st session):

Ernie and Margie Dillon, on behalf of many Hammond Tech graduates, asked the Board to change the name of the Career Center to reflect the historical significance of the building.The request is to change the name of the Career Center to "Hammond Technical Vocational Career Center".

My take:

Congrats to all the students !!!
HUMM...$320,000 dissapears, then it magically re-appears. Must be a Magician in the house.
Margie and Ernie Dillon are correct, and so are the other people they represented this evening on the Career Center name change. The name of the building should be as was suggested this evening. It is a historically correct name, yet still reflects the purpose of the building.
