Several people staged a good old western style shootout, in the parking lot of the Walmart store in Robertsdale.Several injuries Sunday afternoon. One car fled the scene and headed to Chicago. The summer has started for sure. Why not give all these gang bangers all the guns they want and turn them loose in some field away from putting any citizen in danger. That would solve our problems with these dope dealers. If any remained after the shootout, arrest them for murder.

This is a Prima facie case against TIF's. Tif's appreciating property tax revenue does not go to the community but is retained by the tif.

Here is a shoot out, ambulances, fire department and police calls take away resources from the community.

And by the way, many, very many of the people who work at Walmart are Illinoisans.

Because shoot outs only happen in TIF's god damnit ..... You are a retard JCMT.

Only the Robertsdale Walmart is not a TIF district. The $2 Million in infrastructure came from a bond that the Port Authority floated for the new Yacht Club, among other things.

The residents of Robertsdale were against the Walmart locating there, as they knew it was catering to the Chicago market and not Hammond residents.

JCMT,

Here is the bigger question you should be asking .......

By agreement with Horseshoe (dating back to Dedelow), $1 Million dollars is paid by Horseshoe for public safety. This money by agreement is supposed to be spent solely in the 1st district. Both Dedelow and McDermott Jr have rolled that money into the general public safety budget to be spent over the entire city.

That money should STAY in the 1st district as it was intended, what happens to the rest of the city is some other funding problem. If so, police presence in the first district might stop some of the issues that are happening with Chicago gangs from the Southeast side coming into Robertsdale and Whiting.

This was one of the core parts of my campaign in 2007, and eventually Mark Kalwinski jumped on board but has since backed off.
