Seems the city council is going to close all city parking lots between 11pm and 5am each night. Aquavor is open from 10pm-3am. The employees and customers have been using the city lot just north of the business, but not any more.

What is your opinion about the parking issue?

Is there a parking issue or is there an issue with a particular business? A few stories have been written in The Times about numerous police calls to a nightclub in downtown. The move to prohibit parking during certain hours looks like a reaction to police calls to that nightclub. Why the indirect action? If the city has a problem with a business license, why not directly address the business license? The indirect harming of any one business by the sort of regulation proposed by the clowncil is wrong. If the nightclub shuts down, and tomorrow a favored operator wants to open a similar venue, can they just change the ordinance again? Can you see how this could be abused? It's like having to pay a street tax. If you don't pay the tax, you can't operate your business. It's not just Sicilians who can work that angle. I think even an Irishman figured it out.

So lets put this scenario out there. Ban parking in city lots across the city (which is what was done) except for the lot by Aquavor. What would you and JCMChuck say about that?

Effectively it would be meaningless because of selective enforcement. Ban it everywhere and enforce it everywhere. Even on the street(?) That they got a business license without ANY parking spaces is the foundation question. How'd that happen? This subject is all yours.

Selective enforcement to drive out a business is wrong, it sends a message to future business owners, who many already know you have got to pay to play in Hammond. Deal with the business, but then Rapchek very well may have a few pennies to play with Tom, hell are they not partners in this venture?

Tom has got a bigger problem, when the income tax hits, what about all the out of state licensed vehicles parking on Hammond streets night after night?

They aren't going to pay their fair share.... Sounds like a sitting Hammond City Councilman.

There is hardly any parking on Hohman, either.
