Prior to the meeting this evening, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new playground at Lafayette.

Here are the highlights of the meeting:

A group of students from Lafayette said the Pledge of Allegiance.

All board members were present.

Special Presentation/Recognition:

Lafayette students who participated in the summer Reading Program were honored this evening, and received a filled backpack.

Unfinished Business:

There was a vote this evening on the Library board appointment. Mr. Paul Taylor was affirmed by a 5 to 1 vote.

There was the adoption of the Board Policy 3000 series, with the exception of one small section that has to be corrected.

Reports:

Dr. Watkins said he has the data on the number of students transferred out of the SCH. He said the breakdown is by the individual schools. He said he would be giving the statistics to the board members. He did not publicly reveal a total number.

Calender:

Regular School board meetings: Monday October 14, 2013 41 Williams Street 6pm, Monday October 28, 2013 6pm Irving School.
Special Meeting: Monday October 7, 2013 6pm 41 Williams Street.

Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers 1st session)

Ms. Alamo told the board that Eggers has no bleachers for the spectators to sit on for sports events. She says that people have to bring folding chairs.

My Take:

The students from Lafayette were an absolute delight ! I was lucky to be able to video the kids when the gates were open to their new playground ! They were absolutely as happy as could be ! It made my day ! :D

What is the total of SCH former students who have transferred out?
The SCH needs to squeeze out the money for bleachers at Eggers. The SCH has sunk millions into Morton. Don't neglect the other schools.
