You only have to look at the last couple of days to see how corrupt of a politician McDermott Jr is.
Tom voted against NIRPC's Illiana Expressway because he couldn't leverage his crew to get in on the inside take. Too many players he couldn't intimidate.
McDermott lacking the finesses of a statesman. If he can't twist your arm or leverage the board with his appointments, he is on the out.
And now through a mouth piece he is pushing a lake county governmental consolidation. No one wants Jr in south lake county and in north lake county, it only takes 16% of the Hammond voting populous to get elected.
For example, yesterday the Election Board, which he controls the majority of members, voted down Erick Kreig's complaint.
Fact, McDermott paid only $1,000 for rent declared on his campaign report. $1,000 rent for a building with $20,000 plus a year in taxes and value between $500,000 and $1,000,000.
Fact, either Kelly Consulting or McDermott Jr or both gave $6,000 to Mr. Woerpel, just two weeks before the entire Woerpel family was arrested on drug cultivation charges. An arrest warrant was sought.
Fact, not before or since has any one individual received a $6,000 check from Jr's Campaign fund.
Fact, this was the very same Election Board disgraced by the Indiana Supreme Court, when they were ordered to place George Janiec back on the ballot after, McDermott's appointment on this Board, voted to remove him from the ballot.
So the credibility of this board is nill, zip nada.
Now sitting around the camp fire, interestingly enough Michael Brown chaired the Election Board, Michael Brown is the Clerk of the Lake Circuit/Superior Court.
A Clerk, in fact any clerk in the Lake County Court System very well may have first hand knowledge of pending court dockets for arraignment, warrants, giving Jr a heads up on a pending court action against a friend.
Don't think this is an end to Tom's troubles.
Quote:
The three issues included the McDermott campaign committee’s payment of $334,000 to Kelly Consulting to produce the campaign financial report. Kelly Consulting is owned by McDermott’s wife, Marissa. Krieg alleged this constituted personal use of campaign funds.
The second complaint centered on the campaign’s payment of $6,000 to David Woerpel, a Democratic Party ally, to drive McDermott to various fundraising events.
In the third complaint, Krieg questioned the payment of $1,000 in rent the McDermott campaign paid two years ago for space in a building owned by Pyramid Development. Krieg alleged this rent was too low for a building valued at between $500,000 and $1 million and a property tax bill of more than $23,000.
