Here are the highlights of the meeting:

All board members were present.

Special Recognition/Presentation:

The Hammond Reads Essay Contest winners were announced this evening.

The Scott Middle School ISSMA students were honored this evening for their music accomplishments.

The Science Olympiad students were honored this evening for their accomplishments in the recent event. They received numerous medals and trophy's.

The Young Authors Conference students were honored this evening for their accomplishments as student authors. One of the students read her published book, which was a touching story about her little brother who has autism.

Public Expression-No speakers at either session this evening.

Unfinished Business:

A first reading of Board Policies was done this evening. The next board meeting, there will be the 2nd reading and passage of the policies.

Calender:

The next regular board meetings will be Tuesday May 20, 2014 6pm Columbia School. June 9, 2014 6pm 41
Williams Street. All board meetings after the end of the school year will be at 41 Williams Street, and will be at 5:30pm.

My Take:

Congratulations to all the students honored this evening ! As for the young author who wrote the book about her brother with autism, you brought tears to many of the people in attendance this evening !
