Here are the highlights of the meeting:

It was a double meeting this evening. At 5:30pm, a Public Hearing on the Budget was commenced. The Budget will be up for a vote on the September 8th regular board meeting.

At 5:45pm, a Regular Board Meeting commenced.

Mrs. Jones was absent this evening.

Recognition:

The SOAR program(Summer Activities For Academic Rigor) was recognized this evening. This special academic program was available to a limited number of high performing students in the SCH, in grades 2-6.

No speakers at either Public Expression Session this evening.

Reports:

There are 253 in-house student transfers in the SCH.
There are 169 out of district students who have enrolled in the SCH. Most of these students are either middle or high school level, with a large percentage going to Morton. Morton is about at full capacity, approximately 1,300 students. The majority of the students who have transferred into the SCH are from Gary.

Calender:

A Public Work Session for School Improvement will be Tuesday September 2, 2014 6pm 41 Williams Street.
Regular board meeting Monday September 8, 2014 6pm 41 Williams Street.
Regular board meeting Monday September 22, 2014 6pm Franklin Elementary.

My take:

I see on the consent agenda, that there are several contracts that were approved this evening for some retired employees of the SCH. What is their contracted services for the SCH? Inquiring minds want to know !
