Here are the highlights of the meeting:

All board members were present.

Doctor Watkins presided over the meeting tonight, which is the first meeting he has attended, since he was severely injured in a home invasion months ago.

Recognition/Presentation:

A presentation was made by the transportation department this evening. Several bus drivers who have been accident free for more than a decade, were honored this evening, along with bus monitors who are long time employees of the SCH.
A special robotic little bus, called Barney, has been purchased through a grant. Barney teaches bus safety to kids, and is interactive.

Public Expression 1st Session(no speakers 2nd session):

A resident who drops off and picks up family members at Maywood complained about the dangerous parking conditions at the school.

Reports:

A handbook for SCH employees is currently being made. It should be completed in November.

Calender:

The next regular school board meeting will be on Monday October 27, 2014 6pm at the Area Career Center
There will be a Public Work Session on Tuesday October 21, 2014 41 Williams Street 5:30pm.

Also Note:

There will be a School Board Candidates Nights at 41 Williams Street on Thursday October 16th and Thursday October 30th, both from 6:30-8:30pm.

My grandkids would LOVE to have Barney.

Come to candidates nights. Ask hard questions, and lots of them. We are talking about the people who currently are, or might be overseeing the education of your kids or grandkids, and utilizing your tax dollars.
