Here are the highlights of the quick meeting:

All board members were present.

Public Hearing:

There was a Public Hearing on additional appropriations. the amount of $14.4 million was approved this evening.

Reports:

All area School Superintendents received an email stating that Ball State wishes to establish a Charter School in the area. Merrillville seems to be the likely location, but any local district with an empty building can be considered.

The SCH website will have an update posted for the Open Enrollment. It is possible that the Open Enrollment might be available in March of this school year, but definitely for the next school year.

Calender:

A Public Work Session is scheduled for Monday November 17th 5:30pm 41 Williams Street on the topics of schedules and curriculum. The next regular meeting will be on Monday November 24th 6pm at Gavit. On Monday December 1st 5:30pm 41 Williams Street there will be a Public Work Session on NEOLA(board policy). The only regular meeting in December will be on Monday December 8th 6pm at 41 Williams Street.

Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers 1st session):

A parent asked about a bus ride for her child to and from school. She says the bus picks up students 1 block from her, and she wants her child to also ride that bus. She stated that the bus is rather empty, so there is room for her child.

A Teacher with an important matter at hand, asked the school board to not delay any further on the matter of importance. He requested that the matter be handled quickly and professionally. He did not go into detail, as he stated that was on legal advice.

My Take:

All the money in the world for pet projects in the SCH, and some needed things, but the students at Hammond High cannot get the pool fixed. SHAME on the SCH !!!
