Did this good Dr illegally dispensed the narcotic prescription painkiller hydrocodone to a spouse of an ex city employee who had control of billing and payment of medical bills?

Was this part of the reason they separated from city service?

Or is it because some additional scrutiny came to focus on how the city plays with its money?

Yes, the Dr. got dinged, but the spouse, with a history of substance abuse seems to have gotten a pass, still maintains their license, and wound up with a county job.

Hammond doctor sentenced to 46 months in prison

HAMMOND | A Hammond doctor has been sentenced to 46 months in federal prison for her role in accepting kickbacks for Medicare patient referrals and illegally dispensing prescription drugs, the U.S. attorney reported Friday.

Dr. Linda Rosenberg, 60, a Chicago resident, pleaded guilty in April to three criminal counts related to her practice at 5500 S. Hohman Ave., Suite 2D, Hammond, U.S. District Court records show.

Rosenberg was accused of accepting about $1,500 a month from a Chicago-area laboratory for sending Medicaid and Medicare patients there for blood draws.

Between 2006 and 2012, Rosenberg had a similar arrangement with a Northwest Indiana business providing CT scans, X-rays and MRIs, according to a federal indictment. She allegedly accepted $34,000 paid on a semi-monthly basis from June 2011 to February 2012 for those referrals.

In addition to the kickback schemes, Rosenberg also illegally dispensed the narcotic prescription painkiller hydrocodone to an unnamed patient without a legitimate medical purpose, court records state.
