Recognition/Presentation:
There was a musical performance by a group of Wallace students this evening.
The Student Of The Year at Wallace was honored this evening.
The Hammond Education Foundation presented scholarships this evening.
There were no speakers at either Public Expression Session this evening.
Calender:
The Special Meeting scheduled for Thursday has been cancelled, but the scheduled Public Work Session will be at 5:40 pm.
The next regular meetings will be on Monday June 1st 5:30pm , and Monday June 15th at 5:30pm, both at 41 Williams Street.
There will be a Public Work Session at 5:30pm on Tuesday June 2nd.
Reports/Misc.
It was reported this evening, that Hannah Cherry, the mother of former School Board member, Albertine Dent, passed away on Saturday. The obituary should be in the paper tomorrow.
My Take:
Congratulations to the Scholarship recipients !
Hannah Cherry was such a nice lady, who really loved my homemade black raspberry jam. I made sure she was the first person to get a jar, every year. She was such a sweet and gracious lady, and will be sorely missed. RIP, Mrs. Cherry !
On a side note, I might not be covering some meetings, as my old Buick fell apart on Calumet Avenue by Hammond High, this morning. I have to depend on rides, for the time being. I want to also thank the two young men from HHS, who helped me. It was most appreciated, as I was bringing my grandson home from Head Start, when the Buick went kaput. THANK YOU,GUYS !!!
