Here are the highlights of the meeting: All board members were present. Special Recognition/Presentation: A group of high school students went on a trip to the Washington D.C. area. Several of the students who participated talked about their experience at the meeting tonight. Participation in the TELL survey has been good. Overall most of the schools participated in this educational tool, except for 3 schools who didn't get at least 50% Teacher participation. Public Expression 1st Session: Carlotta King expressed dismay and the communities dismay over the removal and shuffling of some administrators. Unfinished Business: Personnel vacancies in the SCH have been mostly filled. Reports: The student capacity levels at the various school buildings were discussed this evening. Four schools are filled to capacity, and several more are near capacity. Calender: The next school board meeting/public work session will be on Tuesday August 25th, 5:30pm 41 Williams Street. Public Expression 2nd Session: Carlotta King spoke again about the issues, and about the school supply giveaway and rally last Saturday. My take: The personnel report this evening was extensive. There has been a lot of personnel shuffling, and some new hires, and rehires. |
