Here are the highlights of the meeting: All board members were present. Recognition/Presentation: The Principal of Morton Elementary gave a presentation on the "Girls On The Run" program, which builds self confidence and self esteem in young girls, and helps them deal with issues such as bullying, rumors, and gossip. Unfinished Business: A more detailed inventory will be done of the available tech currently in storage. Reports: A brief enrollment report was given this evening. There are still some openings at some of the schools. Class size was also discussed. Calendar: A Public Work Session on NEOLA(board policy), has been changed to Tuesday October 27th, 5:30pm at 41 Williams Street. The next regular board meeting will be on Monday November 2nd 6pm at 41 Williams Street. Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers at 1st session): Carolyn Jackson spoke about the scholarship fair that was held at the Genesis Center in Gary on September 24th. She asked the board members as to how many Hammond students received scholarships, and how much did they receive. The board and Dr. Watkins will look into this. My take: It would be very interesting to see how many Hammond students received scholarships, and how much they received. This scholarship fair was well attended, by what Ms. Jackson reported. |
