Here are the highlights of the meeting:

Dr. Watkins was absent this evening, and Mr. Boone sat in his seat.

Recognition/Presentation:

The Gavit "Blue Print" program was highlighted this evening. The program aids students plan for college.
O'Bannon highlighted their "Roadmaps To Your Future" program.

Reports:

A brief highlight of the "Come Read With Me" program was presented this evening.

Calendar:

The next regular school board meeting will be on Monday October 3rd, 6pm at 41 Williams Street.

Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers 1st session)

An Irving parent complained about the lack of action in regards to the bullying of his child. He stated that he has sought help, and nothing has been done. He said that his son has been battered, and his son's glasses have been broken. He said he is ready to go to the media about this.

My Take:

Congrats to the students and their accomplishments !!!

I feel for this parent, as I have gone through a similar situation with one of my children in the Hammond Schools. AFTER the meeting was adjourned, I went over to talk to this very upset parent, and I was shooed away by a board member and 2 SCH employees. I have talked to parents AFTER meetings numerous times before, and it has been no problem with anyone. I can only speculate that since I am now a candidate on the ballot for school board, that my freedom of speech is not allowed. SHAME ON YOU !!!
