Is any one else offended, angry, etc. about Pence appointing a Hammond city judge that does not live in Hammond or does not have any law experience?

Have no problem at all with it. The reason the Governor appoints judges, due to corruption in Lake County.

If you read the synopsis, you'll find Lake County is like the Wild West.

She is leasing a place in Hammond, and is looking for a house to buy. If she takes up residence here, I am OK with that. As for experience, several previous judges didn't have hardly any when they got the seat. I will give her a chance. If she screws up, we can vote her out.

If she doesn't live in Hammond, she shouldn't be a Hammond judge. I read today that she does have a law degree all though she has not used it. So I am ok with her not having the experience, but I am not ok with her not being a Hammond resident.

She has no legal experience at all. The judge who the Indiana Supreme Court appointed to take Harkin's place, Gerald Kray was on the bench hearing all the cases yesterday and making rulings. Judge Jorgensen sat next to the court reporter, not saying a word because she has no clue how to do the job. Literally everyone working in the courtroom from the bailiffs to the police officers to the city attorney all know more about what a judge should do than she does. It's laughable that she is being paid a salary to do a job she doesn't how how to do.

Probably a saint in sparks eyes, none other than Franklin D. Roosevelt nominated someone who had all of four months experience working at a law firm to the Supreme Court! William Orville Douglas quit his position at an east coast law firm after four months, to move back to the west coast, where he never practiced law. I think she can handle city court and it shouldn't matter where you live. After all, cops and firemen are exempt from residency rules, and courts should be independent of the executive and the legislative branch. Having either of them dictate where to live is none of their business.

Well said Lubu...

funny thing, McDermott doesn't live in Hammond, but maintains a residence.

So, all one has to do is take one look at your pathetic excuse for a life and wonder why you bother to post here at all? What you really need to worry about is what happens to your healthcare now that Trump has promised to repeal Obamacare on his first day in office. Congestive heart disease is tough to treat when you can't pay for it.

Really Sparks.... my life pathetic.... are you really that miserable of a Dick.... attempting to intimidate those around you who you don't have the intellect to debate?

BTW, I have no health disabilities, have excellent health care, in fact better than what you have as a retired IBEW member and have traveled four of the seven continents in the world we live on. It's comforting your adventures are restricted to Hammond, as you would poorly represent Americans, and well, the human race.

Should you choke to death on a chicken bone over the holiday season, you deserve it.

Two weeks have passed and the "judge" still hasn't sat on the bench and made a ruling. Gerald Kray still sits on the bench making rulings and Jorgensen hides in the chambers if she is even in the building. In the past, getting paid to do a job and not showing up to work was called ghost payrolling.

It is more common than not, for a magistrate or judicial referee to hear proceedings. What was the percentage of court days that Harkin was behind the bench? Marissa McDermott has just hired a long time political ally of her and her louse spouse as a magistrate for circuit court. Lisa Berdine will be behind the bench, hearing arguments in the court of judge McDermott.

So, you are knocking Marissa for hiring an experienced criminal defense lawyer who has her own law firm to hear cases? With every post, you continue to prove there is no fixing stupid!

Knock? "Knock, knock." Lil' Patrick: "Who's there?" The FBI....Lil' Patrick: "Dad! Someone wants to talk to you!" Why is that a knock? No knock was intended, except for saying "louse".
It is somewhat relevant that the hired party was as involved as they were in campaigning for lake county's royalty. But not to stray, how come no one was closing the court or bringing up "ghost employment" when Harkin wasn't behind the bench?
