Here are the highlights of the meeting:

Mrs. Jones was absent again.

Recognition/Presentation:

Edison elementary School had a presentation on the "Choose Kind" initiative.
Morton High School honored a student this evening who has had perfect attendance at school since Kindergarten, and is now a senior.
A Clark student was honored this evening for perfect attendance.
The Chess teams were honored this evening for their accomplishments, which included many trophies for their wins and placements in competitions, both local and state.

Calendar:

The next regular school board meeting will be on monday May 22nd 6pm at Jefferson Elementary.

Public Expression 2nd Session(no speakers 1st session):

Mr. Buck spoke about many alleged cases of discrimination in the Transportation Department of the SCH. He said that African Americans have been overlooked for jobs, advancement, and advanced positions. He also said that punishment for offenses is not meted out fairly, with African Americans getting more severe punishment than others.

My take:

Mrs. Jones has been a no-show for almost every meeting since she was re-elected to the school board last year. This is not fair to the people and students involved with the SCH, or the taxpayers in general. IMO, if she cannot do the job, she needs to resign.

Congratulations to all the students honored this evening !!! :D

The alleged discrimination in the SCH Transportation Department is snowballing. It is more than time for everyone involved to sit at the table, and work this out.
