It is scheduled for today, Tuesday, May 30th at 5:30pm at 41 Williams Street. I urge people to come, as this will seriously raise your taxes for no good reason.

The school city is talking about a combined 80 cents increase per $100 of assessed valuation for property owners. While this seems to not be too much, do your math. To put it mathematically simple, 80 cents on the $100 would be $8.00 on a thousand. Round off the assessed value of your property to the nearest $1,000 and multiply it by 8 and see what you get. For example: A house assessed at $100,000=$800 possible increase. A house assessed at $50,000= $400 possible increase.
Can you truly take this unneeded hit when you have already been hit with the bill for the Little Calumet River project and the Sanitary District government ordered mandates to upgrade after their dumping in the river ?
