Here's a rare opportunity to see the outrageous hypocracy of former WJOB host Steve Fowler in action.
HE has posted a video clip shot during a meeting of the HAmmond Republican Precinct Organization. He's the heavyset guy seen glowering at and questioning former Hammond Mayor Duane Dedelow (the redhead):

Fowler CLAIMS to be a Republican but is very actively openly campaigning for incumbent Democratic Mayor Tom McDermott. Fowler's overt support for McDermott, who has violated the spirit of the law by appointing Fowler to a seat reserved for a Republican on the Hammond Sanitary District Board, has included Fowler riding on McDermott's float during the Pierogi Fest, and getting dipped in a dunk tank for him at McDermott's steak fry fund raider last year.
The law requires the 5-member Sanitary Board to include a balance of both parties, to prevent the interference of partisan politics into the essential public service of sewage treatment. Fowler gets over $600 a month and is entitled to full insurance benefits for attending one public meeting a month. Since leaving WJOB, he has also been hired on a full-time basis by Lake County Clerk Tom Philpot, who is also a Dem.
Perhaps Fowler's most egregious subverting of propriety is found in his never-ending blogging on the Times message Board. He freely employs the smear tactics that are a hallmark of Team McDermott.
Read what Times columnist Mark Kiesling has to say on this topic today:

Despite his obvious Democratic sympathies, Fowler still has the NERVE to attend a meeting of Hammond Republicans and try to force Dedelow to make a complex policy move on the spot. Instead, Dedelow wisely decides to put forth an offer to set up a volunteer committee to formulate a policy on the subject. I didn't see the self-described "staunch Republican"" Fowler volunteer, did you?
And you won't, because his purpose for attending the meeting and postting this videoi is to promote-again-Tom McDermott. What a phony!
