Dixit, Sparkiest and May1846 staunch support of Mayor McDermott sorta gave me an idea to list some of McDermott's accomplishments here in hammond


1. McDermott has presented no city wide plan to attack crime?

2. McDermott's Administrative staff failed to enforce the 1000ft residency rule for Sex Offenders. Dozens of Sex Offenders and Violent Offenders are found living with in 1000ft of parks. God only know how may live next to churches and schools. Policy places Hammond residents at risk.

3. McDermott has differ Casino monies to pay for $750,000 in Legal Clinic salaries. Some have indicated Legal Clinic Staff have been key to running McDermott's re election campaign. Are the taxpayers paying for supporting McDermotts Politico staff?

4. McDermott Transfer the administration of city employees health plan to McDermott Sr, only to have McDermott Sr return the plan back to the city as it may have been too difficult to adminster. All at a cost of just under $2,000,000.

5. Hire a politico operative to run the water department, who has at the time of hiring no certification, taxpayers send him to school, taxpayers pay for it and then allow this politico operative to run a business admittedly servicing 18 clients, putting together a $35,000,000 bond deal for Juniper. All while working for the city's water department. The guy should teach time managment classes. I though I read in a times article that this guy was paid his 4 years up front. No investiation regarding this conflict of interest.

6. McDermott slates dozens of candidates, the only one who succesfully won election is Ernest Dillon, who ran unapposed.

7. Lets not forget the threateneing call to Markovich. McDermott, a Notre Dame law school graduate and self professed
criminal attorney leaves a voice mail message to cover his tracks.

8. McDermott uses a politico operative, who's whole family get arrested for cultivating marijuana on their city lot and then McDermott makes a call saying the arrest is political, implying it is ok to grow drugs on his capo's city lot. Who cares if it is illegal?

9. McDermott front budgetary issues as the reason he disbands a volunteer Haz Mat program, placing citizens of Hammond at risk again.

10. McDermott accepts the 2009 budget submitted by the Parks Department for the Lake of the Festivals event. The expenditures have gaping holes regarding income and expenses for the Festival.

11. During the last State Audit reports there are questionable items the mayor has been reimbursed for as he has not submitted receipts for his reimbursement. McDermott is above the law!

12. McDermott Jr has McDermott Jr broker a behind the scene Cabela deal which puts almost $1,000,000 in Sr.'s pocket. pocket. Daddy has no real estate license to collect allowing him to collect a commission.

13. McDermott institutes the College Bound program to assist Hammond residents pay for their children's college education. Honorable program. There has been no audit of this program since its inception, despite the concerns that this progrmas has a friends and family portion of this program which is against's it established policy.

I think you can file an action and draft your own order requesting compliance with the state law.

I would first make a written request for the material specifically. Sending copies to McDermott & Comptroller. The existing law should have a time frame for performance.

Should Hammond/McDermott not respond, you can than file your request for an order to a court. I would start out in County Court.

If it gets to court, I would invite representatives from the times and post tribune to be present at the hearing.

14. Lets not forget the wonderful idea of spending $2,000,000 on a foam statute of liberty to be placed in wolf lake. I dont remember, but was there not $160,000 spent on an engineering feasibility study?
