Mcmayor taped by Markovich!

Hammond Mayor Tom McDermott Jr. has been taped by 20-year incumbent City Councilman-at large, Bob Markovich, in a childissh tirade against the short-lived candidacy of Markovich's son.
McDermott is heard to threaten a full court press against young Markovich, whose father has been targeted for defeat by Mcmayor.

Our mayor in Hammond is an embarrassment to the city. Here he acts like a bully toward Markovich for daring to file his kid against him, even though the City of Hammonmd has hired Bob Markovich's nephew, Tom Markovich, on the Fire Department. Just a coincidence Tom Markovich is seeking an at-large City Council seat in the May 8 primary? The Lake County Election Board threw out Bob Markovich's complaint against the old "name game."
This is EC politics at its worst. Some of the rats who were displaced with the ouster of Pastrick must have scurried down Chicago Avenue and made it all the way up to City Hall.
Mcmayor should NOT be trying to stack the Council with his ardent supporters. We need some independence on the Council. Mcmayor has more than a half million dollars in his war chest, according to reports. He has a HUGE patronage army. Who is going to beat him? No one, I'm afraid, but there is a good chnce he may NOT get all his Council picks.

I find mcmayor's threat to make bad things about Markovich appear in the paper disturbing, almost like blackmail. Young Markovich did withdraw a few days later.

Did ANYONE listen to that atpe of OUR mayor, bullying Markovich as to who can run for office in Hammond! Outrageous! THe rant earned him a jab from Purdue PRoffesor Maurice Eisenstien, who questioned McDermott's mental stability over it.
I think it is just scary that one man, Tom McDermott Jr. thinks HE gets to pick candidates for office, and use his considerable war chest to help some get elected. after HE determines who gets to run! :evil:

NOw, the topic of this thread is that tape I linked above with mcmayor threatening to go after Markovich. IT is now happening with direct mailers being sent to Hammond homes from a group called" Citizens for a Better Hammond." Fowler admits to being a member of this attack pack. Mcmayor has over a half-million dollars to spend on these slam pieces. Hmm, wonder how HE collected so much in donations?
