My wife and I attended the Jefferson crime watch meeting Tuesday night. The featured speakers were the executive director of Haven House and the head of Hammond's building dept, Jim Callahan. I was really pleased that George Janiec had the director of Haven House, which provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence, appear. The holidays are the busiest time of year for shelters as the victims of domestic abuse seek to escape their abusers. As we enjoy our Thanksgiving feasts today with our loved ones, let us remember those who are less fortunate than us and make a donation to help Haven House.
