Gov Daniels calls Lake County Corrupt!

On a wjob friday, 01-28-2011, Gov Daniels was a guest on Wjob, just before the Mayor's show.

Now the Gov made some very complimentary comments about McDermott, but what followed was bothersome.

The Gov stated that Lake County, its Politics are corrupt. Neither JED or the Mayor chose to talk about that.

Now go figure, the Chief Executive Officer of the State, a potential Presidential candidate says pointedly that Lake County and
its political institutions are corrupt!

Wow. Now if I was on the receiving end of that, I would be bothered by it, unless there is a good deal of truth to the subject matter.

For Christ's sake tommy this is from May 2008, can you get more desperate?Besides it wouldn't bother you so much if you knew he wasn't talking about you. Why hasn't the Governor/possible presidential candidate been back up here with the feds arresting those that are corrupt? Is that the guy we want running the country? he knows there is corruption but doesn't investigate it? I think not!

Hey pal u must be smokin some of the LC Democratic special weed found in the back yard of a very very very important capo... hey it was two weeks ago.... can you do a bit better to discredit that info.

Why isn't your pal or maybe x, your the mayor himself working at discrediting this post.

Just as McDermott was flappin his cheeze on job a couple days ago at how good of a job his boys were cleaning up da snow, job got a whole bunch of calls saying hey my street aint cleaned.

maybe mayor you should spend less time on a bulletin board and more time doing the people's business.

Do I understand correctly, you think I am the mayor? That is typical for your kind tommy, you get hit over the head with the facts and now you need some one to blame for making you look like a fool. Well I am sorry I am not the mayor,maybe someday though.

Yeah... kinda points out his inability to run the state.

Actually a very good point. A sitting governor who make such a statement without taking action. What I find more problematic, the Democratic Party Chairman remaining absolutely silent on the point.

In this case, I think the Governor was specifically talking about the Chairman.

From what I read and have seen, Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr has accumulated over $1,600,000 in campaign contributions from one committee alone, there are at others.

It's pay to play lake county style.

Isn't there already an investigation going on here? It's called Opertation Restore Public Integrity or something like that. All Daniels has to do is point to all of the elected officials sent to the slammer.

Here's the thing. It's one thing to know that someone is corrupt. It's another to prove it in a court of law. Bob Pastrick anyone? They may have been able sued him for everything he has but they have yet to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he was corrupt.

The mayor is supposed to follow city ordinance. However, the FBI is only going to investigate if they think he's broken federal law. Is not turning in receipts a federal crime? I wouldn't think so. The FBI isn't going to investigate a mayor not following city law.

I really don't know what kind of information is needed to trigger a federal investigation. I will say this. People have been claiming since 2004 that McDermott is being investigated and that an indictment is being handed down soon. This grand jury is taking a reeeaaaallllllyyyy long time.

Amy some very good points, as you say Pastrick is one such example, Cantrell another.

Amy, the city budget is comprised of many facets, among the sources of city revenue/income are federal money. The feds can take the philosophy, as they did with Pabey and Camacho, any amount of money spent illegally comes under their jurisdiction.

And up until JCMT posted what he/she did, the Feds need a complainant to initiate a federal criminal investigation.

I still think someone very close to Cantrell turned him in, very close.

I believe her name is Nancy Fromm.

There has to be a complaint, but then there has to be evidence of something wrong. So far as I can see, there have been acounting irregularities. Is there any evidence of money missing? Not that I'm aware of. Only the receipts. It's a fine line.
