I've heard that the Michigan City schools accept students that do not have their legal guardian living in the city. All the student would need is an aunt, uncle, relative...or from what I understand...a P.O. Box and they are able to attend school here. From what I understand, they are the only NW Indiana city to do this...which leads to students that have been kicked out of other (sometimes multiple) schools to attend MCHS without any questions asked.

Does anyone know if this is accurate, and if so...how can it be changed. The first thing that families check before moving into a community is the school system...and if the dregs of the scholastic society are being shipped to Michigan City, new families will not be joining them. I know that not all expelled students are "problem children", sometimes there is just a mistake made, or a mis-understanding...but the MCHS cannot be the last resort for the worst students and still expect to have a decent school system...can they?

If, what I've heard is wrong...please disregard the previous two paragraphs.
