To hear Rich James tell it, "Rep. Peter Visclosky, D-Merrillville, finally is losing patience with Northwest Indiana. It was obvious in what he had to say last week to an interim legislative committee studying the future of commuter rail in Indiana...After a lengthy discussion about a business plan for the commuter railroad, Visclosky seemed to be at wit’s end." (See, James column in Howey Report, "Visclosky's Region frustrations grow," Sept 19)

Really? Finally losing patience, divines James.

So what? Is this anything more than pure reportorial hubris? Aside from challenging the textual imputation of James' utterly subjective reactions --- to Visclosky, who gives a damn if Visclosky is losing patience? Losing patience? Wtf? Visclosky is a "representative" of...an agent of --- the People. He isnt our boss. Who is James or Visclosky to dictate what WE the People ought to be thinking or affirming, especially as to increases in taxation?

Who is Visclosky to be impatient with anyone? It sounds more like James is frustrated, and attributing/projecting it onto the congressman. Meanwhile, isnt it the case that people move to south county burbs like Dyer, St. John or Lowell to escape the progressive encroachment of the crowd, especially living conditions that result from unwanted real estate development? Isnt that why people moved to relative wide open and undeveloped spaces of south county in the first place? So why would they ever want to self-undermine these wide open spaces by agreeing to further taxation that would only end the tranquility and enjoyment of their neighborhood and property?

Visclosky is losing patience? Roflmao.

The problem here is James believes that simply because he has been spoon fed news information for three decades that he is now an expert of some sort on the socio-political economy of NWIndiana, especially as to what is best for the Region. Talk about hubris! Simply because he reported on past events does this confer upon his anecdotal witness a status of total or definitive comprehension of said past? Or one we should all defer to as superior, superseding --- or one attempting to scold us for our own interpretation, evaluation or analysis? Yeah, right.

It must be remembered that the media is NOT the voice of the People. Not anymore. The Fourth estate has as its agenda the politicizing of corporate interests advocated by its advertisers and stockholders. Even worse, to hear James advance it, we now have our elected representatives thinking WE the People exist to obey them, that we in effect, inversely, work for them. That Pete Visclosky was hired to become the boss of the constituency and principals that elected him. Talk about subversively inflated!

Beware the media jabberwocky and text that bites.
