Like the constant daily barrage of narcissistic publicity-stunting exploited by Brittany Spears, and now Miley Cyrus (the principle there is no such thing as bad publicity, as any publicity, positive or negative, ostensibly keeps them positioned in the collective mind) our Lake County tourism director Speros Batistatos, doesn't know when or how to quit. As recent recognition by the Huffington Post points out "a lot of us have hit Miley Cyrus overload and found ourselves saying, 'That's it, no more.'"

But for the likes of Speros this amounts to more opportunity for aggrandizing self-referentiality and relentless promotion of now disguised solipsistic-oriented publicity. In his latest editorial missive, he now seeks to neutralize negative public opinion, or worse, perhaps offset professional indifference to him in the public domain --- to say nothing of the chilling reception he's received for his bid to consolidate Porter and LaPorte counties et al, into one big promotional empire with him at the head of it. So now we are informed, he will pursue an even louder profile. "Rather, we will be doubling down on the advocacy, technology, marketing, sales and leadership that differentiates us. We will out-sell, out-market, out-promote and out-service any similarly situated organization," he declares in this Sunday's prophecies.

It appears as though Speros' ego has become so inflated he must publicly veil it through the use of plural pronouns. Still, it isnt about personalities (plural). The only "personalities" at issue concerning the SSCVA is his. Nobody is fooled. If fact many are bored with the tedium of it.

Today, anything and everything functions as fodder for yet another round of bloviation about himself, or his bid for a hotel tax, on the editorial page of the Times. Enough already.
