CROWN POINT | Lake County police said they've started a relief fund Monday for an Illinois police officer whose Dyer home was destroyed in a suspected arson.

Lynwood patrol Officer Kelly Johnson sped Dec. 20 to her home and found it ablaze, flames shooting out the roof. Her three children escaped the fire with minor burns and singed hair, police said.

But everything the family owned inside the home was destroyed, including six pets and Christmas presents.

Christopher Costello, 23, was charged Dec. 23 with three felony counts of attempted murder and one felony count of arson related to the fire at the Sheffield Avenue home, Lake Criminal Court records show.

Costello, also of Dyer, said he picked the police officer's home because he didn't like cops in general and had seen a patrol car parked in the driveway, Lake County police have said.

I agree, that woman should be embarrassed for herself! Thank you for bringing American society's ignorance to our attention. I wonder what one would do if you knew for certain you would be shot and killed for rioting in the streets and causing disorder and jeopardizing public order and safety? If she was so damn smart and had some point to make, maybe she should use her brain and make a change, rather than act like an animal in the streets.

(and for the record, I will admit what they did was stupid, because they are professionals, and should have known better. They should have hauled her FAT NASTY AZZ to jail, they still would have been wrong no matter what they did, but at least it wouldn't have been so public and seem unfair. At the end was also unprofessional and stupid. The woman should have gone to jail and been charged a HUGE fine to pay for the police service in which the taxpayers had to pay for because of the illegal act she was committing!)
