Could this all come down to crowd control a police responsibility and the posting, if ever required, of bridges weight capacity?
Overcrowding blamed for bridge collapse

MERRILLVILLE -- An engineer has determined that a pedestrian bridge did not have structural defects when it collapsed after a Fourth of July fireworks show, spilling about 50 people into a lake.
Ross Township Fire Lt. Phil Topor said the report shows that too many people were on the bridge at Hidden Lake Park, causing an I-beam anchoring it to break.
Investigators believe more than 100 people were on the 90-foot suspension bridge when it collapsed. About 25 people were hurt, with the worst injuries being broken bones.
Ross Township Trustee John Rooda has said the bridge should have had no more than 40 people on it.
Several of those hurt have started legal action.

You can't manage common sense. It was like back in the days of the old Midway Ballroom in Cedar Lake. When I felt the water coming through the floor, I knew it was time to get out. At some point people have to be aware of their surroundings. If not, put 'em on Moby's island.

Is that a reference to the host or those on the bridge?
