Rich James has an interesting column today about a solicitation he got from Tom McDermott to join a new club: http://www.post-trib.com/news/opinion/2 ... xx.article So it turns out this invitation to join the exclusive club is just a tricky means of collecting more money for the Dems. Membership in the "Lake County Circle" as McDermott has dubbed it costs $75. (Wonder why they need the dough anyway. Do they have a new employee to pay?) So what have we learned about the Lake County Dems this week? Well, they want you to vote a straight party ticket, regardless of the qualifications of individual candidates. They had a convicted felon whose dad owes East CHicago $108 million for ripping off the city speaking for them on WJOB Wednesday. Kevin Pastrick was serving as his dad's special assistant when they stole the 2003 mayoral election. Now they send out a mass mailing, seeking $75 for access to party and elected officials. Here's the exact quote from their solicitation letter: "This membership is the latest effort to give you additional and unique opportunities to access your Democratic Party and your elected officials." Just one word I can think of to describe our local Dems these days-SLEAZY. |
