Looks like South County came through on Seaton. It makes a good case for separating LC into 2 separate counties because northern county does not represent the south county residents. As far as I'm concerned let every city whose borders begin north of the Borman be Lake County and everything else the new county. It's one thing to be pro-Democrat based on issues. Quite another to be a blind tool.

At least Hammond had competitive races. Ok fine, you lose you lose. But looking at the lopsided results in Gary, East Chicago, and Whiting even in the Seaton race I am now convinced that anyone who willingly chooses to live there is dumber than a pet rock.

I will be closing out my remaining business concerns in LC because short of dividing the county it's a waste of time and effort to try and prosper here. Sure the sacred cows of big industry will probably remain but aside from arguably Hammond the cities in north LC have no clue what economic prosperity is much less how to obtain it or how to make a good private sector job. I wonder how they're gonna survive now that the entitlements and block grants are going to be scaled back and the "river boat" casino revenue is drying up?
Looks like I hit the nail on the head when I made this comment.
I think you said the hell with Lake county years ago. You're a part-time resident of NWI at best and you aren't involved in your community other than to whine about it on message boards.
Mirage's claim that he is not going to do business in Lake county has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with his lack of talents and inability to form relationships. His claim is almost identical to the claim that Moby made before the 2008 elections when he said that he and several of his friends agreed to close their businesses if Obama was elected. I'm sure that sent the Dow Jones crashing when several bigots on a message board said they were going to close their imaginary businesses! Mirage actually believes his line of BS. I'd like to hear him cite a single instance of how Democratic control of Lake county effected his "business concerns". It sounds to me like he is just trying to find a scapegoat to blame for his own failures in business. Plus, Mirage said he was going to leave Lake county if Seaton won. Hank Adams became the first Republican in fifty years to win a county election and Mirage is still leaving. That tells me he is leaving because he is a poor businessman, not because of the economic climate here.

It's little wonder idiots like you pulled the straight party lever as always. Never heard you say she should even lose her current position. Did you hear this person didn't even have the good sense to file her hopeless appeal on time and then demanded the rules be changed to accommodate her own stupidity? Typical Dem mentality around here that the rules only apply to everyone else.

If you read my post today about why Gary is dead then maybe it will sink into your thick head that a good business person doesn't waste time with hopeless markets. Sure I could be crooked and play ball to make a few bucks under the table like your pals but I don't work that way. And BTW who said my business interests were such failures? Well I'll grant you getting a good price for a piece of property around here anymore tough when there's so little demand but sometimes you gotta cut & run. Even that food center in Crown Point that was mentioned in today's paper is wanting to pull out and merely postponed its move. They don't like the business climate around here either it would seem.

You fail to see the obvious before you. When politics is the stumbling block of prosperity only the crooks get rich. You want an example? The Gary Airport. After tons of cash have been poured into that place there are still no daily flights and hardly any use of those facilities beyond what it was doing before spending all that cash. There is no master plan to develop the surrounding area to make it an industrial hub either. And the properties just across the toll road that once was a bustling pair of shopping malls just sit there like a cheap pile of rocks. So you're dumb enough to really believe that politics isn't a roadblock around here?

Speaking of crooks this came in just this morning.

http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake ... 8e4d1.html

So bogus information to get financing for apparently unqualified buyers to make a 300% markup on the properties. But this is not an isolated case around here. At the very end is a mention of a crooked city official being caught up in apparently a similar scheme.

Two deny NWI real estate fraud

HAMMOND| A Schererville man and Gary woman entered not guilty pleas to fraud charges surrounding an alleged real estate scheme during a hearing Friday in Hammond federal court.

Jeffrey Julkes Jr., 26, of the 5300 block of Gull Drive, and Eloise Blackmon, who is in her 50s, of the 4800 block of Monroe St., were charged in a superseding indictment in October of allegedly conspiring to get buyers mortgage approvals by presenting false information.

Some properties Julkes allegedly purchased were sold a few months later for up to 300 percent more than what he paid for, according to the indictment. Blackmon worked for a real estate company and, among other allegations, allegedly recruited buyers.

Trial is scheduled for Jan. 18 in Judge Joseph S. Van Bokkelen's courtroom.

"We still have some more investigating to do in preparation, and we're just working our way toward trial," said Arlington Foley, Julkes' defense attorney.

Blackmon's attorney, Scott King, could not be reached for comment.

Others charged in the scheme include:

Sheila Chandler, 51, of the 5300 block of Gull Drive in Schererville, Gordon B. Rainey, 47, of the 5400 block of Buchanan Street in Merrillville, and Randall B. Causey, 46, of the 4200 block of Tennessee Street in Gary.

Chandler also was indicted in October for alleged involvement in a different mortgage fraud scheme, along with at least three others, including a Gary city official.
