Looks like South County came through on Seaton. It makes a good case for separating LC into 2 separate counties because northern county does not represent the south county residents. As far as I'm concerned let every city whose borders begin north of the Borman be Lake County and everything else the new county.

I have flirted with this idea for years, but rather than the Borman I would prefer the split at US30.

Where would Merrillville go though if at US30?

They are on both sides, they would need to pick a side

Anyone who votes straight Democrat this particular election is nothing but a damned fool. Harsh words, I know. But sometimes the truth is painful.
You have to ask yourself how come Carol Ann Seaton wants this job so bad. Anybody with an ounce of integrity left would have pulled out of the race to let a qualified candidate free from scandal run. But no. This woman not only has no shame but claims she is insulted she was caught in the act, my paraphrase but read the direct quote for yourself in the OP.
If this is the kind of gutter trash Sparks claims is more worthy of our trust that tells you all you need to know about how he is wired. I'm kind of wondering how, on her salary, this woman can afford 3 homes and 5 cars not to mention the associated expenses like insurance, utilities & all. Maybe she inherited a chunk of cash from daddy? But that would mean she was well aware that the homestead exception was a fraud. Did anyone ever see if her Michigan home had a homestead on it? Who in their right mind thinks this woman is ethical enough to head that office?? As far as I'm concerned NOBODY!

I never thought she was the best candidate for the job. This year I worked as a precinct judge. When we ran the vote totals,I was quite pleased to see Hank Adams had beat Carol Ann Seaton by a substantial margin. I think the Dems really wanted to keep the assessor's office because a Republican assessor could uncover more instances of illegal deductions. BTW, I never once said that I supported Seaton or would vote for her. Mike3775 incorrectly assumed I had, but we all know he's not the sharpest tool in the shed!

No sense of civic obligation in play here. No sir.....for those that don't know, the county provides free donuts to the poll volunteers.

If they buy the donuts at Munster Donuts, fine. They are terrific. Try them, you will find out for yourself.

I voted against Seaton and the rest of the county Dems. I really wish they hadn't put Buncich back into office. He's just the worst...

What letter was behind the name?

Remember, most voters in Lake County DO NOT know how to read a ballot. They only know to look to the straight ticket section

Show of hands-who thinks the paper
shredder has been running on OT in Paul Karras's office the last couple of days?

I expect Hank Adams to take a good close look at what's been going on in there. I really believe he's an honest public official and isn't very picky about where the chips may fall.

Get this! Some say they have to investigate her past or find a better replacement before they know if she can still keep her current position:

http://www.nwitimes.com/news/local/lake ... 1e99a.html

Councilwoman Elsie Franklin, D-Gary, said Thursday she didn't want to make a move unless someone has the name of a better appointment to the appeals board.

Councilman Jerome Prince, D-Gary, said he has similar concerns about Seaton's reputation. He said the council had debated removing her earlier this year but chose to postpone action until after the election.

Council members Larry Blanchard, R-Crown Point, Ted Bilski, D-Hobart, and Christine Cid, D-East Chicago, said they want to research Seaton's background and consult with fellow council members before they decide how they will vote on Seaton.

Are you frekin kiddin me?

Quite another to be a blind tool.

At least Hammond had competitive races. Ok fine, you lose you lose. But looking at the lopsided results in Gary, East Chicago, and Whiting even in the Seaton race I am now convinced that anyone who willingly chooses to live there is dumber than a pet rock.

I will be closing out my remaining business concerns in LC because short of dividing the county it's a waste of time and effort to try and prosper here. Sure the sacred cows of big industry will probably remain but aside from arguably Hammond the cities in north LC have no clue what economic prosperity is much less how to obtain it or how to make a good private sector job. I wonder how they're gonna survive now that the entitlements and block grants are going to be scaled back and the "river boat" casino revenue is drying up?

Actually that shows that South County is more populated than the northern half is now, since the south overcame the north this election.

The flaw in your argument is obvious. Only 1 Republican won. ;)

Granted the population is fleeing the pet rock mentality cities but they're still losing countywide elections.

Welcome to reality. Kinda like a puppy or a kitten opening its eyes for the first time.

Hammond isn't going to prosper in any way. The concerns of the residents will always run a distant fourth to the needs and wants of THE PARTY.

One piece of hope as far as State races is the REDISTRICTING. This will occur. So Reps. such as Rep.Mara Candelaria Reardon(WHO LOST HER OWN HOME TOWN OF MUNSTER) will have to do more than take advantage of the Dems in Hammond, whiting and East Chicago etc..

yeah it is going to be interesting to see the D's crying when districts get redrawn and some lose their power base with redistricting
