It was funny this morning to hear Jim and Bertha Vasquez Dedelow make excuses for the Democrats vote straight Democrat commercials on their station. They said the Republicans are doing the same thing. Baloney Jim and Bertha.

Ah, you caught my phone call today.
They sort of just dropped the subject, didn't they?

I've still never heard any Republican asking voters to cast a straight party ballot in a WJOB commercial.

Not that I'd cast a straight ballot either way.

I voted for candidates of both parties today
.

Free,

You haven't heard any Republican commercials because the local party is so incompetent they cannot afford radio time ....or newspaper ads.....or billboards ....or ...or ..or ..... Their fundraising abilities are horrendous.

To show how bad it is ...... during the time I ran and the year after, Hammond's account was never over $1200. They spent a good chunk of that money buying a banner to use in the local parades (over $600 ...if memory serves). The county party has not been much better.

So the Republicans are useless in this County. Why does Jim and his wife have to lie about the Republicans making a vote straight Republican commercial?

You post troubles me because it shows your only exposure to the Tea Party is what some TV talking head told you to believe. You intentionally used the term Tea Baggers, which is an insult, rather than address your objections specifically. Frankly they are not nut jobs and I have no problem whatsoever with what they are trying to accomplish.

As for the Senate race it means you are putting another vote in Obama's pocket. Have you been asleep for the past 2 years? The Dems voted in lockstep to pass all that crap! Do you truly think that as a freshman Brad Ellsworth - Democrat will be among the very few to cave in on blind Obamism? Because that's about the only way you can justify choosing him. That said good people can indeed disagree on this race.

And what of our good old Congressman Pete? Your gonna vote for him because he's not a Republican? You used to at least be able to say he was scandal free but no more. By all accounts the House is going to change hands so I'm not sure how much pull he's gonna have left. Again good people can disagree on this race but I think it's just time for him to go.

I think these choices go to show how genuinely screwed the United States is. For congress we have a choice of a ethically challenged many term congressman vs a 6 time loser with historically no platform who has suddenly latched on to the tea party as a prayer. We have a democratic congressman running for senator who will definitely follow the democratic path vs a former senator who has the reputation of being bought and paid for. A former lobbyist who had no problem bolting from the state when he retired.

And as much as I despite Pete, I disagree with the power he will be able to keep. As a senior tenured Democrat he has and will continue to hold some very choice committee positions. Right or wrong, he will continue to do what a senior congressman has the power to do. And that is bring home the bacon to his home district.

I really don't think it matters too much what party is in power any longer. The Republicans screwed it up to begin with, they got tossed out because of their handling of the economy. The Democrats have botched it completely and the same mandate is sending them packing. Only to come full circle. In another 2 years of dismal economic performance we will see them packing as well.

I'm cautiously optimistic as old Pete is losing BIG. As they say at the race track - hold all bets. ;)

Back to the race at hand - I am completely dis-gusted with Gary, East Chicago, and Whiting. Hammond not much better. Be careful what you hoped for cause it just might come back to bite you in the hind parts.

Well I can't wait for the legal challenges to be filed

Basically Lake County has proven its citizens should not be allowed to vote

These idiots in the hood don't understand the following. Even if Carol Ann Seaton wins the election. Then she is removed for legal purposes. Her replacement is going to be picked by the Democrat Party under the direction of Chairman Tom Mcdermott Jr. And that replacement is not going to be("A PERSON OF COLOR"). i.e. black. What a bunch of Northern Lake County Fools!

I told you that we would all be sitting here mystified that she would be elected. Too many years of entrenched people pulling straight D to make a difference.

Once again it shows the incompetence of the local party that they could not capitalize on 2 different candidates with such huge problems.

Congratulations to Lake County Democratic Chairman Tom McDermott. Your name will go into the history books.
Your strategy regarding Seaton resulted in the election of a Republican to a county office for the first time in a half century!

Has she conceded though?

Until she does, its not official

I have a feeling Lake County Politics will be coming into play

Concedeing is only a courtesy. Means nothing. The totals are what makes it official. I doubt if she will say anything. After all isn't she in Michigan today at her home. Unless she is living with her father that died many years ago.

Looks like South County came through on Seaton. It makes a good case for separating LC into 2 separate counties because northern county does not represent the south county residents. As far as I'm concerned let every city whose borders begin north of the Borman be Lake County and everything else the new county. It's one thing to be pro-Democrat based on issues. Quite another to be a blind tool.

At least Hammond had competitive races. Ok fine, you lose you lose. But looking at the lopsided results in Gary, East Chicago, and Whiting even in the Seaton race I am now convinced that anyone who willingly chooses to live there is dumber than a pet rock.

I will be closing out my remaining business concerns in LC because short of dividing the county it's a waste of time and effort to try and prosper here. Sure the sacred cows of big industry will probably remain but aside from arguably Hammond the cities in north LC have no clue what economic prosperity is much less how to obtain it or how to make a good private sector job. I wonder how they're gonna survive now that the entitlements and block grants are going to be scaled back and the "river boat" casino revenue is drying up?

Actually that shows that South County is more populated than the northern half is now, since the south overcame the north this election.
