This POS of a computer only shows words being lip-synced. No volume. There's access, but the kid won't let me get it.

I think my days of rearing him are back-firing.

You should get yourself fixed up, computer-wise. It is GREAT to be able to watch and hear video and music on Youtube. It's free too, but I buy cable (highs peed) Internet for $42 a month. IT is SO worth it! I don't have cable TV, I Have high speed instead.
I got a decent computer too. I couldn't keep dealing with a POS like you keep describing. I have a rotten little 13 inch TV< and a bigger computer monitor.
Priorities. :D

Nowadays, you can pretty much watch any show you would normally watch on tv on the internet. I rarely watch tv any more to get news because it's so easy to access it online. I have cable internet too and I will never go back to anything less.
