Q: What's the status on Jimmy Buffet's restaurant, Cheeseburger in Paradise, coming to Northwest Indiana? They announced it so long ago, I figured it'd be here by now.

A: Bad news. Merrillville Zoning Director Dorinda Gregor said Cheeseburger in Paradise officials went through the approval process, but they decided not to build a location in Merrillville. The plan was for Cheeseburger in Paradise and Max & Erma's locations to be built on Georgia Street, near U.S. 30 and Interstate 65. Max & Erma's is still on track.

Thank goodness, I cannot stand Buffet.

You know in all my trips to FL I have yet to feel the need to head to Key West to find the origional store. I'm assuming that's where it is?

I went to one in Kalamazoo, MI several times. Best burger I ever had! You're right, the sweet potato chips are great too! And that drink menu!!! Absolutely one of my favorite places to eat, but I never try anything but the bacon cheeseburger because its soooo good! Other people in my party tried other food and no complaints. I'm not a big Buffet fan either, but they have a singer there every day playing that type of music and kids can go up there and dance. It's really a nice place and if there were one around here I am sure it would be packed. Did I tell you about that drink menu!?!?!?!?!?
