This Saturday I visited Café Fondue for the first time. The atmosphere and décor of this 2-story restaurant was quite cozy. The menu is oriented towards a four-course dinner in which your primary decision is the type of meat you want with your dinner. The first course consists of different types of bread, grapes, and apples that you dip into a pot of melted cheese and wine. The next course is a basic salad. The main course arrives next, which is your meat selection as well as a generous selection of raw vegetables and potatoes. Your meat arrives uncooked. On your table is a pot with boiling vegetable oil in which you use little skewers to cook your meat and vegetables. You are served a sample of about 8 dipping sauces in little dishes that you can dip your food into before eating. The final course is a plate of pound cake, gram crackers, strawberries, and other desert items that you dip into a pot of melted chocolate.

Overall the experience was fun! As the customer cooks his own food you can’t blame the chef if you don’t like it. The portions were generous and fresh and the service was very attentive. I think it is a great place to take a date or a group of friends. If you have never experienced a fondue restaurant, you should definitely give it a try. A bit expensive the tab for 2 dinners and 2 glasses of wine was about $60.
