Fuji Japanese Restaurant
5942 Us Highway 6, Portage, IN 46368
(219) 763-4131

This is the FIRST JAPANESE RESTAURANT IN PORTAGE! It is located next to Big Lots on Hwy 6. The Food is Great! The prices are very reasonable. If you love Japanese food and SUSHI you no longer have to drive all the way to Chicago for great Japanese food. Now it is right here in PORTAGE! Highly Recommended!!!

The people are friendly, but don't think for a second that they are Japanese!!! They're Chinese....... cooking Japanese. Guess they don't think anyone will notice

I LOVE Japanese food and I thought the place is just ok.
Although, it nice to see a little variety come to Portage!!!!

I know they aren't Japanese because I've been there and spoken to one of the owners.
If you ever go downtown to a Japanese resturant, usually it's not Japanese people cooking..... it's pretty typical.
That is an interesting question about how many resturants Chinese have that issue with other Asians. I'd bet not too many!

That reminds me...

A Jewish guy, Mr. Greenberg, lived next door to a Chinese guy, Mr. Wong.

One day when Mr. Wong was bent over pulling weeds out of his lawn, Mr. Greenberg walked up behind him and gave him a hard kick in the butt.

Mr. Wong, jumped up, turned around, looked at Mr. Greenberg, and asked him, "What was that for?"

Mr. Greenberg said, "That was for Pearl Harbor," to which Mr. Wong replied, "That was the JAPANESE... I am CHINESE." Mr. Greenberg then said, "Oh, phooey... Chinese, Japanese, you're all the same."

The next day Mr. Wong saw Mr. Greenberg pulling weeds out of his yard, walked up behind him, and gave him a swift kick in the rear. Mr. Greenberg said, "What was that for?"

Mr. Wong said, "That was for the Titanic," and Mr. Greenberg said, "Titanic? That was an ICEBERG!" Mr. Wong said, "Well, ICEBERG, GOLDBERG, GREENBERG, you are all the same."
