Seems like anywhere in Whiting looks like a nice neighborhood...near the lake, old downtown, near the train station or Cal College...I want to know if there's area that's considered too rough. I've wanted to come to Whiting for a long time now but am afraid of change with my work, doctors and family all south of US 30.

I think it's fair to say, you can't call any one section of Whiting a rough area. Each neighborhood has their fair share of people who just don't care or respect the other people living in the area, but this is all over, not just in Whiting. If people turn a blind eye to everything, then your neighborhood starts to go downhill. There is still alot of people living in Whiting that care about this community and keeping it safe.

I love Whiting. The first time I went there was a couple years back when they had their neighborhood yard sale. After I'd been through there, with their bungalows side by side, it reminded me of Chicago where I grew up and I was ready to move. I love the area by the lake, so nice and breezy in the summer.

Even tho I don't know anyone here yet, I hope everyone has a happy and properous "07"!

What a nice post Carol, sometime in May they are going to have another city wide yard sale, they call it "Garage Mahal", hope you'll be able to make it.
