A victory for the residents of Calumet City !! FINALLY!! I bet the queen is back-stepping wondering what the heck they are gonna do now! LOL!!! Our seniors get to remain in a somewhat quiet safe area and not be disturbed by the chaos this 'BOAT' would have brought along with it. The natural habitat will remain and those creatures that live their will not be evicted.......bet their are some happy deer, squirrels and other animals that are reveling in this decision along with the residents!

Without even having the credentials qualifying me as a mayor-wanna-be, using common sense, I already knew the mayor of Cal City was making needless headlines. Common sense would tell you it was a worthless cause.

Now, back on Mayor Genova: he resides in New Lenox; his wife reportedly works downtownb in some PR business. He's living happily ever after.

I still can remember the Times News reporter that wrote up an article at the time he was sentenced...and still can't get it out of my head how he even lied to his small children at the time.

When asked (and it was quoted in the newspaper) what or how he explained to his children about him being required to report to Oxford, WI's Pen, he told the reporter that he explained to the children (his own children), "Daddy's going away to fight the bad guys."

Never will forget that lie to his own kids.....how stupid is he? The lies come back to bite you in the butt, but why the current mayor never bothered to pursue his promise of repaying the legal fees, makes one wonder if she had something "going on" between the both of them. Why would she not require him to keep his promise?

MY THEORY IS SHE JUST MADE HERSELF LOOK AND ACT AS BAD AS HE DID, BUT HE ADVISED HER HOW NOT TO GET CAUGHT.

That, in fact leads me to wondering how she managed to slap the newspaper's front page with the obscene and outrageous, generous insurance coverage for her, the council and long after she is gone, she'll carry the most generous life insurance with her.

Wake up CC, and demand they give up that Enron type of medical coverage, and if she wants that generous life insurance, ask her to pay for it, and see if she's monetarily able to do so on her own, without taxpayers' money.

It's not like she's the Queen of England.

By the way, those condos she picked out and approved, why were there kids standing on the corner of Torrence and Michigan City Road a week or two ago, with signs, "$300.00 DOWN! Condos For Sale!"

Didn't work out, did it mayor?

Once again, if you are an attorney in Calumet City, you'll get rich! Common Mayor, give it up. You don't have the moolah, or the finesse. You are just making your attorney's rich, again.

CALUMET CITY | Calumet City may not be in the cards when the Illinois Gaming Board considers its three finalists for the state's 10th gaming license, but that doesn't mean city officials are walking away from the game.

"What we are doing is making an appearance at the public forum at the Gaming Board on Dec. 8," Calumet City Attorney Burt Odelson said.

The Illinois Gaming Board chose Waukegan, Des Plaines and Rosemont as its three finalists and is expected to make a decision by the end of the year. Developers also had submitted bids from Harvey, Country Club Hills, Calumet City and Stickney.

Not that I'm keeping track. Wonder how much the legal fees are, so far.

The council also approved payment of $6,825 to Robinson Engineering in connection with the proposed casino license for Calumet City. The services included research of the company's own files, preparing exhibits and attending a meeting. The biggest part of the bill was $5,340 for almost 45 hours of time by a senior engineer.

Oh, and before you reach for the calculator, 5,340/45 = $118.67 per hour. And you thought $71 for making a car was a lot. This was 45 hours for an engineer to review files already prepared. Can you say "pay to play"?
All for a casino that this city hasn't got a Chinaman's Chance in hell of getting.
Note to Michelle: Money talks, bullshit walks. Give it up. Or we won't let you play Mayor anymore.
