The election will be in March, 2009. Do you prefer Pam Cap or Michelle Markewicz-Qualkinbush? Or do you prefer someone else? In the more recent elections, there have been three, four, or five people running for Mayor. Do you think the ladies might dilute the vote and a third person might win? I'm curious to hear your opinion if you are a Calumet City resident. I've lived here since 1992. I don't know who I'm going to vote for. The candidates usually have a debate at TF North High School. I sure hope they have one this election!

I'm still trying to figure out which department you work for, at City Hall.

By the way, rumor has it that 5th ward Alderman Tarka lives in the 2nd ward (with his mommy) will he be resigning soon? After all, if he no longer resides in the ward he represents, he isn't legally the Alderman of the 5th ward, and any motions or actions he votes on are not legal. Perhaps a letter to BGA.

Tarka doesn't have to step down from being Alderman of the 5th Ward because he is running for Treasurer after Zimmerman retires. What a state of affairs that will be. Nothing like going from a crooked alderman to a crooked treasurer. If he doesn't get his way, will he strike his employees like he did his step son.

Code, I have lived in Calumet City since 1948 and have been through several bad administrations. Let me tell you that the worst have been the Genova and the Qualkinbush ones. I see no repreave if she is re-elected again. From what I have read, Pam Cap would make a great mayor, that is not saying that maybe someone else wouldn't. But between Cap and Qualkinbush, I'm for Cap.

I'm undecided. Sure hope they have debates again at TFNorth. I'm afraid Pam & Michelle may split the vote and a 3rd party candidate will slip in. We'll see....plenty of time till election day in March.

Was a very interesting Election Day this year! Boy, what a turn out!! :D It's good to see so many people getting involved with this Nations government. I haven't missed an election since ( oh boy! I'm dating myself here!) 1976, and last Tuesday had to be one of the most jam packed days I've had the pleasure to be a part of. Just listening to the crowd of different people voicing their anger at what has been happening not only in this country, but, our own city. Seems as if the residents are finally waking up and taking off the 'rose colored glasses'. The primary on Feb. 24th should be just as exciting! Hope every one who took the opportunity to voice their opinion and let their votes be counted on November 4th., come out and do this city a favor. LET YOUR VOICES BE HEARD ON FEBRUARY 24th......GET YOUR VOTE OUT!

Would like to take this opportunity to thank the mayor for having her 'Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony'. The 'CAP FOR MAYOR' headquarters was packed with citizens who were anxious and curious to meet Ms. Cap. We meet so many new faces that night, it was a total surprise. Thanks to everyone who stopped in to meet us, we really enjoyed meeting ALL OF YOU! Your voices and concerns were heard and not forgotten.
See you all soon! :smt006 :smt002

It was in the Times today the Mayor plans to run again in April. Says she is interested in building more single family dwelling in the 5th ward. Don't you think she should focus on getting the properties sold that have for sale signs up instead of building more homes? Guess if you build homes on the vacant lots, she can get more money from property taxes.

Her main platform should be to totally eliminate the Section 8 vouchers in this city. Period.

You do that, a lot of problems will disappear.

Of course, she could get rid of corruption, too.

Funny how nobody responded to this "rumor".
