Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was convicted on only one of 24 counts against him in Federal Court in Chicago today. The jury could only reach a verdict on a lying count, which carries a maximum sentence of five years. They were deadlocked on more serious racketeering charges. NO word yet when he will be sentenced, or if the government will attempt to retry him on the other charges. |

I have to agree with the Times columnist - give him the maximum on this one count and drop the other charges. Save some taxpayer $$ for a change. |
