I predict this forum will become more popular soon, as the Times is busy destroying its message boards. It has been slipping ever since they revived it after shutting it down. NOw, it is using volunteer moderators who are obviously biased against certain posters, and in favor of the current mayor of Hammond and his thug supporters. IThe Times board is useless unless you are in the McDermott camp. It doesn't matter if a posters' comments are based on a published news story or eyewitness account, if the post doesn't conform to the party line the whiners have it removed, or locked, or spun off into another thread the moderators start up. It really sucks!
IThere are some of the same rotten thugs coming here now, and trying to take over the way they did the Times, but I think Expresso has the right idea with posting smiley faces in response to their taunts. I am going to TRY to keep my temper from now on and do the same.
Is anyone else happy that we have this forum with which to express ourselves?

I believe in supporting free speech with minimal interference however recently the actions of a few are ruining the forums for others. I find it bizarre that some of you can devote so much energy & time to calling each other names and posting absolute nonsense. In order to address the issue and moderate the discussion the following policy is in effect until further notice.

Off Topic Posts: When someone creates a thread on a topic and someone attempts to hijack the post by just posting nonsense and name calling, the posts will be deleted. Repeat offenders accounts will be deactivated.

Name Calling: Posts and threads whose main purpose is just to call another member names without any rhyme or reason or intelligent discussion will be deleted. Repeat offenders accounts will be deactivated.

My recent post was not based on the complaint of any one individual. I have received complaints from at least 5 different members recently concerning the forum. Ultimately my decision was not based on any individual complaint. I read the forum daily and I think it was pretty obvious to everyone the direction the conversation was headed in recent weeks.

I don't enjoy banning people, but I think both cases are egregious enough to merit a full and permit deletion of their account.
