Operating engineers halt all work under expired contracts

The International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 said Wednesday it is ceasing all work being done under expired agreements from three contractors groups.

The strike began Thursday following a breakdown in contract negotiations. The union rejected recent contract proposals from the Northwest Indiana Contractors Association, the Four County Highway Contractors Association and the Indiana Constructors Association. Contracts expired May 31.

The groups handle a majority of building, road, bridge and highway projects across northern Indiana. The strike affects work in 14 counties, including Lake, Porter, and LaPorte.

Ed Maher, spokesman for the Countryside, Ill.-based Local 150, said the contracts affect about 2,500 union workers.

The union said further negotiations have not been scheduled.

2500 Guys, who already make $40 an hour plus full benefits, are holding 14 counties hostage.

Keep that in mind when you are sweltering in traffic.

I'm sure this warms your heart...

Workers’ share of national income plummets to record low
Quote:
Over the last decade, the share of U.S. national income taken home by workers has plummeted to a record low.

Quote:
The chart jibes with other data, which show that since the 1980s, income for the richest 1 percent of Americans has exploded, while hardly budging at all for everyone else.

That's a middle class wage, and the goal of the Republicans is to eliminate the middle class. I would simply just LOVE to hear what an appropriate wage and salary would be. I mean I guess they should be making $7.25 with no benefits, and god help the lazy sons of bitches if they need to have their appendix removed or a root canal. It's their own lazy faults for not becoming CEO's. Yes?

Do a President Reagan and fire every last one of them.

They will be replaced with hard working people grateful to have a job in the Bin Obama economy of tax and despair and they will do it for 1/2 the cost.

FIRE THEM NOW!

Uhhhh......no, it's not.

Does Dimlight really believe that the roads will be covered with little Chinese people with shovels?

No wonder she can't carry on an intelligent conversation.

I believe his name is Arclight, but I can understand you making a mistake. :smt005

But what I'd really prefer talking about is your scheme to rip Americans out of the middle class and throw them into the working-poor class. Tell me more about how you'd like to take their benefits, slash their wages in half, and then scream when the average American can't afford health care and you attribute it to their laziness and not because they are being underpaid.

Gather them and ask them if they are going to work. If they say no, terminate them and find people who will work. I'd do it for less money than they're paying these apes.
